Mollen Nyiraneza
RF 2021I am Mollen Nyiraneza, born from Kisoro District-South Western Uganda.
I am currently serving as a Research Administrator at CRIMM CONSULT UGANDA in charge of day-to-day activities. Am passionate about advocating for gender equality, fighting for social justice and researching men and masculinities. Though I have worked on various research projects such as; research on Online Gender Based Violence with females between the ages of 18-45, research on the prevalence of Sexual harassment in higher education institutions at Makerere University, research on a mapping study of the nature and character of sexual harassment at Gulu University under Gender Mainstreaming Directorate at Makerere University among others.
Mahooro Evelyn
RF 2021Winnie Evelyn Mahoro is a confident and highly organized administrative professional and a researcher, who has experience in social and development work. She is a self – assured, well-organized, and quick to pick up on procedures that apply to internal and external operations within her field of expertise.
Over the years, Winnie has contributed to multiple gendered research studies, evaluations, analyses, and audits. Winnie loves to write and her greatest passion is to transform communities and societies through research and her writing.
Dan Amanyire
RF 2021My name is Daniel Amanyire 29 a Ugandan, a graduate of Makerere University. I am trained social scientist with a degree in the same field majoring in Gender studies, among other disciplines; psychology and sociology.
I currently serve as a Program Assistant Officer with Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) under the Gender Unit, a unit mandated with a core role of mainstreaming gender within the sector. My career objective is to establish myself as social justice advocate with a focus on Gender equality for social and economic development for women and girls. To this, with a great interest in positive masculinity to consolidate and build on the gains of the Gender agenda. My areas of interest s are gaining practical knowledge and skills in application of Gender, interventions to increase access to social services specifically quality health care and education for girls/boys and men/women, equitable governance, participatory and inclusive planning.
As student social justice am further captivated and keen to increase my conception in areas of analysis through critical reading and writing directed to providing sharp insights to guide decision making at different levels
Amanya Akram
RF 2021
I am Amanya Aklam, a 2022 graduate student of Master of Arts in Gender Studies at Makerere University. I graduated with BA in Social Sciences, majoring in Gender Studies and Minoring in Social Administration obtained in May 2021 from Makerere University. I am a critical reader, passionate writer, a literary environmental and gender activist. I have interests in critical research and studies in the fields of Gender, Masculinity and Development. I am a junior and practicing field researcher with a two-year experience in research assistance; carrying out extensive field interviews, engaging in focus group discussions, mapping specific media conversations, engaging in critical and scholarly review of literature, transcribing and analysing field data as well as writing reports. I have worked on the following research projects:
1. Men and Gender Based Violence; Changing Masculinities For effective COVID 19 Social Response in Uganda which was a national online study conducted during the first COVID lockdown in Uganda to investigate the changing masculinities birthed by the COVID 19 and its resultant lockdown and its exacerbation of GBV, supervised by Dr. Mwiine Amon Ashaba and Associate Professor Josephine Ahikire;
2. Men, Masculinities and SRHR Realisation in Uganda which was a national study to investigate the impact of different masculinities on the uptake of SRH services, supervised by Dr. Mwiine Amon Ashaba.
3. Countering Backlash; Reclaiming Gender Justice in Uganda which is a global project investigating the new forms of backlash that seek to undo the hard earned gains by the feminist movement on critical areas of gender equality and women empowerment, supervised by Dr. Mwiine Amon Ashaba and Associate Professor Josephine Ahikire.
4. MAK@100; A book project detailing the journey of gender equality at Makerere University since 1922 in preparation for a 100 years of academic success, research and innovation as well as community service by Dr. Mwiine Amon Ashaba and Associate Professor Josephine Ahikire.
5. Gender Justice, Livelihood and Rights in Northern Uganda supported by London School of Economics and Political Science through the UK Research Innovation Global Research Fund which I joined in its final stages and participated as a research assistant carrying out interviews and engaging in focus group discussions in the Sub-region of Acholi in Northern Uganda critically understanding the issue of "Aguu" (criminal gangs/floating populations) as a security issue, under the supervision of Dr. Mwiine Ashaba Amon and Associate Professor Josephine Ahikire.
I am a page poet published under projects like;

Allen Asiimwe
RF 2021Allen Asiimwe is a Social Science Researcher with seven years professional experience. Currently she is working at Medical Research Council/Uganda Virus Research Institute and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (MRC/UVRI and LSHTM Uganda Research Unit), specializing in research among young people, tracing their process of growing up in a Ugandan context, those engaged in transactional sex, substance use, in and out of school, in urban and rural communities in Uganda and assessing their HIV risk perception, preventive and treatment seeking behaviors, their experiences in relation to HIV risk, mobility patterns and living conditions, their transition into adulthood and adult-focused care. Her works have informed the designing of adolescent-friendly HIV prevention interventions to improve access to health care services available for them.
Courage Ssewanyana
RF 2021Courage Ssewanyana is a current student of Law Development Center Kampala Uganda pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. He has excellent academic record having been the best student at LLB Makerere University School of Law 2018-2022.He also topped his class at Advanced Levels with 20 points. He is currently a student fellow at DLA PIPER Global Scholarship Program. He has keen interest in research and writing. He has worked and researched as a Fellow at the Critical Research in Men and Masculinity Fellowship 2020-2021, a Transitional Justice and Governance trainee at Amani Institute Uganda, and a research trainee at the Refugee Law Project at School of Law Makerere University. As a research assistant for CEHURD and School of Women and Gender Studies, Makerere University. Courage has interests in men and masculinities, gender justice, forced migration and refugee rights and climate justice.
